Principals

Michael McElligott

Principal

Michael co-founded Tetrarch in 2011 with James Byrne. He has over 20 years of experience in real estate investments and developments, primarily in the hotel and residential sectors in Ireland, the UK and Eastern Europe. Prior to this, Michael was a Director of Mere Capital and Connolly Capital.

Michael has a Bachelor of Business and Legal Studies degree from University College Dublin, a post graduate Diploma in Arbitration from University College Dublin, is a qualified Irish solicitor and a former attorney-at-law (for the State of New York).

Michael was also a Director of Smiles Dental from 2005-2014.

James Byrne

Principal

James co-founded Tetrarch with Michael McElligott in 2011. James also has over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry. James is responsible for overseeing all real estate matters in Tetrarch taking the assets through masterplanning, planning and development. James also oversees all asset management activities, including capital, lease negotiations etc. 

Prior to Tetrarch, James was a Director of Mere Capital and co-founded ezhome, Ireland’s first online full legal and mortgage service provider.

James has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Dublin.

Damien Gaffney

Principal

Damien is responsible for overseeing the configuration, condition and trading performance and operations of all assets in Tetrarch's hospitality portfolio.

Damien joined Tetrarch from Irish private equity company FL Partners in 2011 and previously held senior corporate finance and investment positions at Fyffes plc and Merrion Capital. Damien trained and qualified as a chartered accountant at PwC.

Damien has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Dublin and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland.

Ciara McElligott

Principal

Ciara joined Tetrarch in May 2013 and is responsible for key institutional and high net worth investor relationships and banking relationships.

Prior to this, Ciara had 17 years of institutional investor coverage experience, having previously been a Director of Capital Markets at Lloyds Bank. Prior to this, she was a Managing Director (Fixed Income Sales) at Bear Stearns London, specialising in structured credit investments.

Ciara has an Electronic Engineering degree (BAI) from Trinity College Dublin and is ACCA qualified.

Gillian Curran

Principal / Chief Investment Officer

Gillian joined Tetrarch in 2014 and is responsible for underwriting all investments to ensure that capital is efficiently and appropriately allocated, and that sufficient returns are generated.

Gillian has over 20 years of investment experience. Previously she was Head of Asset Backed Investments at Cannacord Genuity until 2014 and Managing Director at alternative credit fund ZAIS prior to this.

Gillian has a Bachelor of Commerce International degree from University College Dublin and RWTH, Germany and is CIMA qualified.

Stephen Peat

Principal / Chief Financial Officer

Stephen joined Tetrarch in 2014 to head up the finance function across all of Tetrarch’s hospitality and real estate investments.

Prior to Tetrarch,  Stephen was Head of Finance of CLS Holdings plc, a FTSE 250 real estate investment group. Stephen also held senior finance roles with Mainstream Renewable Power and the Interpublic Group of Companies Inc.

Stephen has Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Manchester and is Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Paul Connolly

Chairman 

Paul has been Chairman of Tetrarch since July 2013. Paul founded Connolly Capital, a boutique investment banking firm in 1991, and he is an internationally experienced corporate financier, private equity investor and non-executive director with over 30 years hands on experience primarily in the media, telecom and hospitality sectors.

Currently Paul serves on the Boards of HT&E (Australia), Communicorp Group and he is Chairman of the private Irish media group Business & Finance as well as UNICEF Ireland.

In the past Paul has served on the boards of two NASDAQ quoted companies, EsatTelecom Plc and Hibernia Foods Plc, as well as the boards of Irish media company Independent News & Media Plc, Melita plc and Digicel. In addition, Paul was a Senior Advisor to Credit Suisse through January 2018.
